Yippee Skippee, School Starts Tuesdee!
Sorry, but I'm so excited, I can't wait for the girls to go back to school! From 7am-3pm there will be somewhat of a resemblance off peace in the Shaw household. No more girls fighting! Boys are another story, and I'm sure we'll have lots of rough-housing. And no, I'm not looking forward to the early mornings, but I just might be able to go back to bed after they get on the bus....YAY!!!! First day of school pictures to come! (And just wait until you see their new short haircuts!)

Happy Anniversary!
To the one I love,
Happy Anniversary! It has been a roller-coaster of 9 years and I'm happy to have had you in the seat next to me! I love you more and more!

---Sorry had to get that out of the way...actually not sorry for writing that...I love him and I am not ashamed to have written that!---
Jon and I met at Ricks College in January 2000. We were in the same Family Home Evening Group and went on several activities at the same time, but our first date was in April 8, 2000. It was the last dance of the semester and the last dance we attended together as single people. On May 6, 2000 we got engaged and we were married August 18, 2000 in the Portland, Oregon LDS temple. All I can say, is when you know, you know.
We lived in Rexburg, Idaho until December 2003. Kyra Mekaylah joined our family on October 29, 2001 and Megan Elisabeth followed July 19, 2003.
We moved to Lolo, Montana so that Jon could finish his Anthropology/Archaeology degree at the University of Montana. He graduated in 2005 and on May 8, 2006 Jacob Harrison joined the family.
We soon found ourselves moving to Hermiston, Oregon in November 2007. On March 8, 2008 Ethan Taylar joined the Shaw household.
As of today, we have a second grader and a first grader, a preschooler and a toddler. Jon is busy at work providing for us and working hard. I stay home with the kids and I am going to school full-time, online.
Our "10-year" plan is almost up and we're not exactly where we wanted to be, but we know that if we "keep our eye on the prize" we will make it. It's been a great 9 years. Ups and downs? YES! but, I know that in the eternal realm of things, we can't complain!
Now onto eternity!

Serious Rambling...
I am tired. Life just seems to be running circles around me and I'm getting dizzy watching it. You know, the feeling you get when you try to focus on one part of a spinning merry-go-round or one single fan blade of a twirling ceiling fan. It makes me want to close my eyes, but I know that if I do, I will miss everything.
The kids are growing up so fast! Where has all the time gone? Growing up never seemed to go as fast as it is nowadays. I thought I'd never be old enough to babysit, or to drive, or even graduate High School. Now, I've got my own kids to watch after (wish I could get paid like babysitting), I drive them everywhere (still no paycheck-they don't even chip in for gas) and I just celebrated my 10 year HS reunion! Wow.
Tonight I went over and helped Jon's grandparents with a simple home repair and I got to thinking on the drive home how quickly life goes by. I had made a bunch of goals while I was a teenager that I wanted to have done by the time I was 30. Well, I'm 15 months away and I'm not going to be able get them all done. But some that were on the top of the list like going to college, getting married and having kids have all been completed, which makes me feel good.
Then I got to thinking about something my dad was joking (kinda) about. If you've seen the movie "The Bucket List" you might get where I'm going. We were talking about stuff that needed to be done with the house...new paint, new deck, normal upkeep stuff and my dad was joking about how it was on his "bucket list"...stuff to do before he "kicked the bucket". Instead of trips overseas, or other different adventures, painting the house was there on the list....So, I guess I've decided to re-evaluate my bucket list. Or at least make a list that isn't so mundane, and actually reach for it and try to accomplish those goals as if I don't have much time left to do them.
This probably isn't making any sense, but I've heard that if you jot stuff down that is running through your mind, you can sleep better, and ultimately that is one of my goals!
What else.....
Another thing that has been on my mind a lot is choices and consequences. I wish we could see into the future and know what the consequences are for some of our life's decisions. Some choices make it easy to see what will happen and others are a bit more foggy. Sometimes, the crossroads we come to start out as parallel paths. Over time, they drift apart. It's like an analogy I heard once about flying and being a degree off. You start out the same, but when it comes time to land, you can be hundreds of miles away from your actual destination. You just don't know that you're drifting from you actual, intended, goal. Sometimes the choices we make are intended to get us to that final destination, but we may have a few layovers or have to make a detour due to weather. Again, I'm not sure if this is making sense, but I'm starting to feel better.
I like to think of this as a mini therapy session..(just free). On part of my mind is telling the other part how to deal. I can actually hear my voice in my head trying to explain some of the feelings/emotions I have. How funny is that? At any rate, I'm able to process a lot of chaos that is going on in my mind. I even find myself repeating previous conversations out loud while I drive or walk. It's like I don't want to let go of that memory and so I'm re-living it until it's burned into my brain....Ok...now I sound like I need to pay someone to listen to me!
Well, I think before my head starts twirling like a ceiling fan, I should end. I never dreamed I would be a stay-at-home mom to four kids (ok, my dream actually was to have 2 girls and 2 boys....crazy!) and have such a great and loving husband. I truly feel cared for and loved by him. He has been there when I really needed him and to that I am grateful. Some days, I want to scream, and I do, but on the whole, I love my life and I am happy for the choices I made and for the goals I set.

back to reality...
We are home from vacation and the kids did not waste any time being themselves at home. We had a "I don't want to go to bed" fight last night with Ethan and the girls. Then this morning it was "mom, what are you gonna get me for breakfast?" and just a few minutes ago, I found Ethan with one foot, shoe on, in the toilet with almost a whole roll of toilet paper wadded up and stuck to every part of the toilet bowl.....LOVELY! Oh yeah, and in the mail, along with the grocery coupons, wedding invite, and bills, was a beautiful jury duty summons for none other than wonderful ME! Uggg...Just another reminder that life does not stop when you go on vacation!
Other than all of that...we had a great time in Montana! I had a blast with everyone from High School and of course my family and friends! Next trip??? Hmmmm...how about an over-nighter to Boise without the kiddos! Sounds good to me!

Our Vacation
We have been on vacation these past few days and boy have we been busy!
Jon took and extra 4 days off and so we are able to have a nice 2 weeks of vacation!

We started off on Tuesday of last week and came to Lolo and stayed with my mom and dad. Then Thursday morning we got up and drove to Great Falls and visited Jon's cousin Shelly and her family. Fun was had by all as we walked the exhibits at the Montana State Fair and then picked up a babysitter so that We could catch the Josh Turner concert. Jon was very thoughtful and decided to get the tickets as a gift for me for our anniversary, just a few weeks early. The concert was great and it was wonderful to get some "no kid" time. We also helped Shelly and Josh fix up their house so that they could put it on the market and get ready to move to Arizona. (I don't know how much help we really were, but we enjoyed every minute of our visit and wish them the best in this new chapter of their lives!)

We headed back to my mom and dad's for the night and then packed into the van and headed north to Echo Lake near Bigfork, MT. We stopped at Finley Point near Flathead Lake and picked our hearts content of fresh cherries. We learned that the boys LOVE cherries and the girls LOVE picking them!

My cousin Tracy and her family come up every year from Miami to visit her in-laws and spend time in Canada and at the cabin on the lake. We spent a lot of time on the boat and in the lake. Jon and the kids (minus Ethan) went tubing and had fun riding in the boat. We saw a lot of sun and even got to sleep in a tent (so it was like camping). It was great to see Tracy and Brad and the kids and catch up for the year! We also went to the Art fair in Bigfork, went huckleberry picking and had Dairy Queen for lunch. It's becoming quite the tradition!!

After our fun at the lake, we came back to Lolo and kicked our feet up. The kids have had a lot of fun playing outside, going on 4-wheeler rides with grandpa and we've even managed to go shopping and visit some wonderful friends. We still have a few days left and get to end it with my 10-year High School reunion (Go Big Sky class of '99!) and seeing more friends at church on Sunday. We will be sad to see vacation come to an end, but we get to look forward to a wedding, our anniversary, birthdays, soccer practices, school starting and so much more!

Oh yeah, school is still in the picture and I'm in the middle of my research writing class and my healthcare class. I also have a Primary Program to script and a house to keep up and clean out. Jon's work schedule will keep him busy and with school hopefully we'll be able to be back in a routine. Here come a new second and first grader to West Park Elementary!!!
