Spring Fever...or chills
I am so ready for the cold to be gone! We have had some beautiful days, but they are windy and that's not ok with me! Jon just recently had his monthly 7 days off and we were able to get SO much done! We finally have our garden plot tilled and ready to go. We're just working on finishing up the watering details. But I have peas planted!!! I also started my watermelon and squash seeds, along with pumpkins and sunflowers indoors. If it would warm up just a couple more degrees at night I wouldn't feel so cautious about planting my potatoes and onions. Corn will be planted in a few weeks along with carrots. It's still way too cold for that. My raspberries are ready to go and I'm getting more strawberry plants tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be set for jams and jellies as well!
The house has fallen apart because of all of our outside activity and also because I've been sewing like a mad(wo)man. My brother Clayton is getting married in June and I offered to make the dresses for all the nieces. It's only 5, which isn't too bad, but each dress has a lining that has to be sewn as well. That makes 10 dresses....sheesh! I'll post pics of them later.
We've also been fixing our bathroom roof leaking issue. We are now in the "clean-up & paint" phase. I can't believe it! What should have only taken maybe a week to do, Jon and I have drug into almost 2 months.
Today and tomorrow are set aside for kindergarten registration. Jacob is beyond insistent that we go and get him registered. He is so ready for this next phase, I just don't know who is more excited, him or me! He also can't wait to turn 5. His birthday is in 3 weeks (Mother's Day). Every Sunday he asks if it's May 8th yet. No son, we have to get through Easter first... That will be a whole different post, I'm sure!
Spring also gives me the motivation to change things up a little bit. I went to get my eyes checked and decided it was time to try contacts again. So, I am now a contact wearer again. It's been since college (the first time) that I've had them and it's taking some getting used to. I like them, but I'm not loving them. My new glasses on the other hand are awesome! I can see so clearly! YAY!
I love this time of year. I love seeing all the newness in everything, it's so refreshing! Now if only the cold would go away!!!!
