Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired

Boy oh boy what a couple of weeks we in the Shaw household have had! We have had some wierd string of the flu for two weeks and then just when we think all is well, we get head colds and allergies. I have been functioning on very little sleep this past month and I think it shows! I have several of my little silver friends that moved in on top of my head. I made Jon buy some dye for me (I should probably have a professional do it, but I might fall asleep in the chair and I'm afraid that they would take artistic liscence with my hair...scary thought!) Ok, but now I need a spare 40 minutes to color it and I just don't have that kind of time! Afterall, we've been sick in every room of our house and on every piece of furniture/bedding that we own. My dryer also decided not to work for a while (lint issue, my bad) and so laundry has been a priority now that we resolved the lint factor...anyone want to come and fold?????
I'm glad Jon is getting close to his week off of work...I probably won't get much done, but I have a dream that one day soon I will no longer see boxes in my living room/kitchen/bathroom/bedroom/entryway and that all will be clean and put together. That our house will be the proper colors and that the shed will match. That I will get my flower bulbs planted and that flowers will bloom in my front yard come spring. That my front deck will be finished and stained so that I can put up my welcome sign so people know to come to the front door and not around to the back door. But most of all I have a dream that my sinuses will clear up, my headache will go away, my eyes will quit hurting and that my normal voice will come back and that I will be able to get a whole 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep sometime soon! (Ok, who am I kidding, I'd settle for 5 hours of sleep).
Oh yeah, I also forgot that my 6 month old is trying to crawl!!!! He gets up on his hands and knees and tries to rock back and forth...they sure don't stay little very long!

Corn corn corn

We were able to get some corn on the cob from a nearby field and so we picked 10 dozen ears and went to Tri-Cities to get it ready to freeze. Here are some shots of the kids helping to get it all ready.

If any of you have talked to me, you know how my last 2 weeks have gone. I am looking for some wood to knock on in hopes that we will not get sick again for a VERY long time...(fingers crossed too!)

So, this moment with the kids was a mood lifter!

After we went and cut all the firewood, Jon has been busy splitting and stacking it.

House Painting 101.3

Here are some updated pictures of our house painting adventure.

This is the front of the house...

And this is a side of the front.

Jon thinks we live in a "forest service" house or something that belongs in the woods...It actually looks pretty good in person. There are still spots of trim I haven't painted yet...the lime green trim will be brown eventually.

Firewood

On Saturday Jon and I took a break from house painting and went to cut firewood with Jon's dad Brent. His step-mom Kathy watched the kiddos for us and off we went in search of trees in Eastern Oregon...(let's just say you have to drive for a while).

We're pretty sure we got 1 1/2 cord of wood...not positive until we get it all split and stacked. Yippee for more projects around the house!

House Painting Progress 101.2

It's been a couple of days since Jon and I started the process of painting the duplex. We've been hot and tired and painting in between kids running out and asking questions. Here are a couple of pictures of our progress...

This is a picture of the front house before any paint was applied. I had just finished taping the windows. The color is a blue/gray that is very very old....

This is how we got to the top of the peak...forget ladders, use the landlords John Deer tractor! Go Hydraulics!

This is a picture of the front of our house with the lime sherbet colored primer. We had a mix-up with the paint and the trim color is now the house color and the house color is now the trim color...(Ooops Jon's bad). But it's kind of hard to fix that mistake when you have 15 gallons of green paint and 5 gallons of trim color.

Here is the actual house color. It's called "jungle green". When the sun is on it, it looks closer to tractor green, but in the shade it's nicer.

Now about the trim...I guess you'll have to wait to see what it looks like!

House painting 101.1

We have lived in Hermiston since November and we are now getting ready to paint the duplex we live in. I've moved into the front house, had a baby, remodeled the back house, moved out of the front and into the back, and now we finally get to paint. YAY!!! Right now the house is an icky blue with white trim and when we're done it should be a nicer light brown with dark green trim. Today we pressure washed the whole duplex and drowned close to 50 wasps and 35 spiders of all varieties. Jacob and Ethan watched while daddy took an hour long shower. It should be an interesting process..and one I hope to get lots of pictures of!
