It's been a while.  Let's see what has happened with....

Jon:
work and more work.  Potential positions in management may be opening, which is what we're waiting for, but they are just potential for now....nothing to get excited over.  He was invited to join an adult band where he will get to play the trumpet.  His first practice is tomorrow night.  We'll see what happens.

Kyra:
Second grade is almost over.....so sad in my opinion although it will be nice to have my kiddos home with me.  I do miss them when they are gone.  Her piano teacher is moving and so lessons have stopped.  It's sad really. She really liked her teacher and learning the piano.  I'm sure we'll keep it going, just don't know who I want to actually PAY to teach her. 

Megan:
First grade is winding down and they are celebrating summer birthdays.  She is taking cupcakes tomorrow since we forgot to send them Friday.  She is as helpful as can be (when she wants to be) and I love how much she loves to play with her brothers.  She cleaned the bathroom for me yesterday because she was bored....what is wrong with this kid?

Jacob:
Growing more and more.  He told me the other day that he wants to be a farmer and grow a garden.  We now have seeds planted and hopefully we will be able to "practice" farming. He loves anything with superheros or dragons or cars or tractors, or usually, everything boy related.  He is very helpful and is super cuddly.

Ethan:
He is actually trying to talk....Miracles never cease!  He isn't perfect at it just yet, but he tries.  I can understand most of his mumblings, but I do know he understands and is doing his best.  He is starting the pay-back process of all the times his brother and sisters were rough with him.  He can push and shove with the best of them but he always follows it with a hug and kiss....I guess he's a lover, not a hater.

Me:
I am still chugging along with school.  I have 4 weeks of my finance class left and 7 weeks of my pathogen class.  I had to withdraw from my previous pathogen class and start over.  It pushed my back 3 weeks, but my sanity is more important to me. 

Spring is upon us, but it is a rather unusual one.  I wish the wind would go away and let the heat hit the ground.  I don't mind rain either, but it seems to last forever when we get it.  I think that instead of it being April showers, it's turned into April flowers, May showers and wind...ick!  My poor roses and other pretty flowers that I've planted.  I worry if they will make it. 

Jacob is 4!

My Mother's Day baby boy turned 4 today!  (He wasn't actually born on Mother's Day, but it was close enough).  I can't believe how fast the years go by!  He has told me several times that he did not want a party this year, so we didn't have one....sort of.  Last weekend when we met with my mom in Spokane for my graduation, we had a mini-party with pizza and cupcakes and some presents in our hotel room.  He thought it was pretty cool and has talked about it all week.

On Wednesday we took Jacob in to pick out a cake and we ordered it.  I usually make their cakes, but since we weren't having a party, I figured I could afford the expense.  The girls have had at least 2 store bought cakes, so Jacob was due his.  He picked out a Cars themed chocolate cake and thought that it should be done instantly and that he shouldn't have to wait until his actual birthday to get it.

This morning we had a lot to get done.  Kyra had been invited to a friend's birthday party and I was invited to a baby shower.  Luckily both were at the same time but I needed to find gifts.  Jacob had been pretty indecisive about what he wanted and so I figured the best thing would be to take him shopping and let him pick out his gifts.  It actually worked out pretty well!

We managed to find a baby gift, a birthday gift, fabric for great-grandma's project, new outside plants/flowers for me, Jacob's new dragon toy, a t-shirt, blanket, coloring book and have Sonic for lunch.  We made it back in time to pick up his cake, drop Kyra off at her party, make an appearance at the baby shower, give great-grandma her fabric and still manage to get my flowers planted.

Dinner was Jake's choice and he decided on Chicken Cordon Bleu, rice, carrots, and pears.  Cake followed.

It was a very busy day, but it was fun!  We managed to not have very many arguments and tantrums.  We finished the night with Toy Story 2 and a fun visit from Grandpa Shaw and Aunts Kelly and Sarah.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACOB!!! 

 Whew!  I'm tired.  Now off to get ready for church tomorrow....

Kenneth Cope - Broken

What's that I hear....oh yeah....

This has been making noise around our house again.  Yep, Jon has pulled out his trumpet(s) and is practicing again.  A friend from high school found him on Facebook and told him that a group of adults gets together twice a month to play.  So now, as if we don't have enough to do, Jon is going to start "jamming" with them.  It's fun to listen to him play...maybe Kyra can join him with a piano/trumpet duet sometime.
